Accounting Seed Powers the Future of Fair Energy for Not-for-profit

Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) is an international organization that works in partnership with the United Nations and leaders in government, the private sector, financial institutions, civil society and philanthropies to drive faster action towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7) – access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030 – in line with the Paris Agreement on climate. This is the story of how Prodigy implemented Accounting Seed to drive change for the better.

Challenges

“We were working from spreadsheets and plus a software that had gone out of commission. We needed a software that could scale with our fast-growing organisation” Sameer Ahmad told us, Operations and Finanancial Manager at SEforALL.

Expenses and Journal entries were very manual and as a non-integrated software, data naturally got siloed between finance and other functions.

Solution

As a not-for-profit, SEforALL had been using Sales Cloud for donations and for CRM, so using an accounting software within the Salesforce ecosystem was very attractive to Sameer and his team.

The team at Prodigy did an implementation of Accounting Seed, their preferred choice of accounting software on the Salesforce platform.

Results

“The best part of Accounting Seed is the interface. Even non-finance people in Sustainable Energy for All can use it easily as it looks like an extension of Salesforce. It’s intuitive and our expenses and journal entries are much less time-consuming.” Sameer told us.

Accounting Seed has also improved communications for the team with donors. “Extracting data and reporting back to donors is now easier and we’re able to get the exact reports we need with a few clicks.”

“The implementation actually also helped us with the segregation of roles and tightening up processes in terms of who’s doing what”.

On Prodigy

“The team at Prodigy were great. Very friendly, and approachable, and competent in getting our data from the current software over to Accounting Seed. We’ve already scaled from 40 to 100 people since working with them and they are a partner that can scale with us”.
